Andrew was born in Melbourne and educated at Scotch College, Hawthorn.
During his working life, Andrew worked in a variety of spheres, including Myer, where he was part of the team which planned
and opened Chadstone shopping centre. Also the CFA, where he became Group Officer in charge of Chelsea and Frankston districts, and
Frankston districts, and started Australia's first national fire service magazine. He also operated a licensed
private detective and security business, worked in home building, held senior positions at Medibank, in the credit union industry and in the funeral industry.
His retirement was spent in Loganholme, Queensland, during which, in 1997, Andrew started a stamp dealing business.
He also organised weekend stamp fairs and postal auctions, and he devised and conducted the world's only correspondence course for would-be stamp dealers.
Andrew was a tireless worker for philately and was also past National President of the Australian Stamp Promotion Council
(forerunner to the APF) and founder and President of Collectors Club Queensland.
He was also a past member of APTA.
Andrew for several years authored "De-mystifying the Detail" in Stamp News magazine.
Andrew is survived by his wife Valerie and sons Craig and Scott.
